It’s almost like she knew I was coming home before I knew I was coming home.
– LeBron James, after giving Skylar Grey a hug.
Last night, LeBron James officially came home as 30,000 people packed the InfoCision Stadium in Akron to give the King a warm welcome as he prepares for his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers this season. If you recall, the night of LeBron’s Decision 2.0, Skylar Grey put out a raw video with tailored lyrics of her biggest hit “Coming Home” (that she sang with Diddy-Dirty Money) that warmed the heart of James himself shortly thereafter.
Therefore, it was only right LeBron invited Skylar to perform a live version of the new “Coming Home” in this setting. This would be quite the experience in person and it was captured at the end of the rally in this hour-long video below (starting at the 53 minute mark).
Some more quotables from Bron:
“My No. 1 goal is to win a championship here; it’d be the greatest achievement in my life,” James said. “I don’t plan on going nowhere. I don’t have the energy to do it again.”
“Even with the veterans we’ve brought in, even if we’re able to acquire Kevin Love two weeks from now, it’s still going to be a process,” James said. “I know that firsthand. It was a process when I was in Cleveland. It was a process in Miami. It’s going to be a challenge.”
“This has always brought me back,” James told reporters. “To be there for these kids, to be able to see the smiles on their faces and what they benefit from this and the education they can receive from this and the guidance they can receive from this, it means so much to me.”
