Mick Jenkins ‘The Water[s]’

Mick Jenkins keeps rising in 2014 as one of the next Chicago emcees up and he’s only going to keep growing at a faster rate after this first official release via Cinematic Music Group — The Water[s]. Mick’s lyricism and progressive sound are certainly drawing the ears of many since it’s all pretty organic as even evidenced by the project’s first 2 tracks. By that I mean, it already stands apart and will take some more listens to digest. I’m vibing with the intro off successive, double meaning references to Drew Brees and Ben Savage that immediately showed he’s not messin’ around. And these aren’t the only 2 references of substance — there are more hidden ones throughout. I’m lookin’ forward to diving into The Water[s] more; yet on first listen, I can already see how it’s makin’ waves.

Contributions from the likes of Joey Bada$$, Jean Deaux, NoName Gypsy, Statik Selektah, DJ Dahi, Cam (of J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League), and OnGuad with the majority of the production. Enjoy the stream and cop it below.
