Rihanna and Eminem closed out HBO’s Concert for Valor in the Mall in Washington D.C. for Veteran’s Day. Rihanna performed “Diamonds”, “Stay” (dedicated to the Veterans), and then Eminem joined her for “The Monster”.
Eminem then performed “Guts Over Fear” for the first time, followed by “Not Afraid” (dedicated to the Veterans) with a smooth, seamless transition into “Lose Yourself”. The setting was amazing with the Washington Monument in front of the artists and the Capitol Building behind. What a historical spot for a concert. I feel like Em’s performance played out better in person, because it was easy to see by the end that he was relying on his hypeman Mr. Porter. I guess I’m an Eminem performance snob since I’ve seen him multiple times over the years absolutely kill that last verse of “Lose Yourself” so believe me, I’m never mad when I see one of my all-time favorites perform probably my all-time favorite song.
UPDATE: Rihanna’s set is below, in pieces. See if the full 27 minute performance of both Rihanna and Eminem work before it may get taken down.
