Curry One MVP Limited Edition

We’ll lead off Steph Curry MVP Day with the shoes as UnderArmour released a new colorway of the Curry One — the MVP Limited Edition PE. As you can see, we get a sleek black and white gradient exterior with the gold/bronze accents that make the shoe complete. Along with it in the gallery is the UA #SC30MVP Tee with the “I can do all things” message on the sleeve and “Charged by Belief” on the back. I love the bible verse that Curry promotes on his shoes (Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me) and it’s cool to see it on the tee and again on the shoe (the 4:13).

The 4:13 also appears on the Curry One Away version, which I bought last month as my new shoe for hooping. Quick aside, but in addition to the spirit of the shoe, aesthetically the black and yellow camo pattern looks sleek, and of course just as important: I’m really impressed with the performance of the shoe. I’ve never had a basketball shoe this light, with the breathability it has. The UA Undeniable socks match well for the shoe’s breathability because my feet actually feel some breeze in the heat of playing. I’m a player that needs high tops too and the ankle support on the Curry One is also unmatched to the point that I don’t need to wear ankle braces anymore. Finally, probably the coolest part of the shoe is UA’s Anafoam technology because after a couple of wears, the exterior of the shoe actually forms to your foot. You see a noticeable change on the shape of the shoe caving in and around your foot. It feels snug, and hey, looks cool too.

At this point, you may feel like this is an advertisement and I swear it’s not. I just love all things about the shoe and even though it feels weird not to rep D. Rose for once, Steph Curry has grown to be a favorite player of mine at Rose’s level (prolly them 2 and Jimmy Butler.)

Definitely gonna see if I can cop this new MVP colorway though when it drops June 13th.

UnderArmour also released a new spot for Curry’s MVP win today with Bill Russell narrating a classic story that we can all draw motivation from. Chilling.

How bout the MVP speech itself? ICYMI earlier today, Steph delivered a 40 minute speech thanking his family, friends, coaching staff and organization, and each individual teammate. I streamed it at the time and I couldn’t take my attention away from it with Steph speaking from the heart about all of the above.

If pressed for time, two of the more viral highlights are Steph’s last statement and Draymond Green hilariously posing as a reporter.

“You don’t have to live anybody else’s story. Sometimes people make it seem like you have to have certain prerequisites or a crazy life story in order to be successful in this world. But the truth is you really don’t. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you have or don’t have, what you lack or what you have too much of, but all you need to have is faith in God, an undying passion for what you do and what you choose to do in this life, and a relentless drive and the will to do whatever it takes to be successful in whatever you put your mind to.

Make sure you live in the moment and work your butt off every single day, and I hope I inspire people all around the world to just be themselves, be humble, and be grateful for all the blessings in your life. I’m truly honored to be your MVP this year. Thank you very much.”
