All-new Weeknd, as first premiered a couple months ago at SXSW, and now for the first time heard in full CDQ through the new music video above.
“The Hills” tells a story of Weeknd trying to get to his girl, but with the dark twists you would expect. This feels fresh from him because of the low voice on the verses and the cadence of the chorus — both unusual at the very least. I especially rocked with the melody on the hook and the story that plays out in both the song and visuals is pretty entertaining, and dark (did I mention dark?)
To top it off, Chicago’s own Mano is one of the producers of the record, along with Illangelo, and they add some trap elements to Weeknd’s usual backdrop. A must-see above as Weeknd rides into summer after his highest-charting single to date.
