Last night was a special sit-down talk with Kanye West and director Steve McQueen, who also helmed the unreleased “All Day” video, at the famous LACMA museum in L.A. The two reportedly talked on the video and a host of other topics in general, citing West as “typically unfiltered, littered with complaints about the music industry and the relationship of money and art.” (via L.A. McQueen on the All Day video:
“[I wanted it] to be a microscopic portrait of West, with the camera serving as a literally in-your-face observer. [The video is about the] “gaze and the gaze following you.”
Kanye on the video:
“I elevated my palate. I wanted him to be in charge…it wasn’t overly thought out…He came to our wedding, also.”
Kanye:
West, whose (accurate) self-assessment allowed that he was a “bad celebrity but a pretty good artist,” also told the crowd that he views music as “as a long training ground to be allowed to collaborate.”
