Kehlani ‘While We Wait’ is a cool 30 minute listen

One spin, 30 minutes, and there’s a lot to like on Kehlani’s fourth project — the newly released While We Wait that’s already the #1 R&B album on iTunes at posting time.

To say I was hooked by track 01 isn’t an understatement. Kehlani’s homage to “Ice Box” — one of my favorite R&B singles in perhaps my peak R&B listening days — was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. “Feels” was the next record that felt another level, which blends into the project’s first single that I’ve had in rotation since its release: the Ty Dolla $ign-featured “Nights Like This”.

Rounding it out: I’ve got “Butterfly” and “Love Language” as a couple of the other standouts, but all in all, While We Wait is such a cohesive listen and one to vibe to during the late nights. 👏 Kehlani!

ProbCause “Drifters” [Mixtape]

Chicago emcee ProbCause returns with his latest project “Drifters”. The project features Angel Davenport, Pivot Gang’s Saba, The O’My’s, Twista, amongst others. This is Prob’s latest solo project following the releases of Waves and his ZRO Fox project with Psalm One. If there is something we can take away from ProbCause’s music is that he has been crafting a cohesive sound from beginning to end and continues to do so in this latest release as we join him for the ride and drift away.

Hit-Boy ‘Zoomin EP’

Hit-Boy graces us with some new tracks and it’s a quick-hit listen with a couple of intriguing features on the lead single: Pusha T and Quentin Miller. Hopefully for the latter, he’ll step out of the shadow of being Drake’s “ghostwriter” and a couple features on Zoomin below should definitely help that. Listen here:

UPDATE: Hit-Boy also reveals that Pusha’s first verse on “Bussin Moves” was actually originally intended for “Clique”.
