Curry Two: Father To Son

Steph Curry is closing up his 5-city tour of Asia with Under Armour — revealing a couple new colorways of the Curry Two, in addition to the “Iron Sharpens Iron” colorway from last week. The latter is out in China and will be available in the U.S. on October 24th… along with, apparently, the Father To Son colorway as well!

Like the Curry Ones that dropped on Father’s Day, this one is inspired by father Dell Curry and his stint with the Charlotte Hornets. Since the purple and teal of the Hornets mesh so well together, this colorway is pretty cold as you can see in the gallery above.

Steph Curry reveals Curry Two

Steph & UA took to social media to officially reveal the Curry Two — the MVP’s second signature shoe for the upcoming season. This red/yellow/gray colorway is pretty hot and fitting for the exclusive China release on September 6th as Curry himself will embark on his shoe tour overseas later this week.

Below Steph’s ‘gram is another one with the leaked images of the other colorways. Off the bat, the red ones in the top left and the aforeseen USA colorway are my two faves. But we need to see the other ones, especially the GSW colors, in high res first.

Seattle Pro Am vs. Drew League (Highlights)

Friday night, stars of the most successful summer leagues in the country: the Seattle Pro Am and the Drew League in L.A. competed in the first of two annual exhibitions for West Coast Bball supremacy.

Reppin’ for the 206 was Seattle’s biggest ambassador Jamal Crawford, the most exciting under 6′ PGs in the league Isaiah Thomas and Nate Robinson, and amongst others, the Slam Dunk Champ Zach LaVine.

For the Drew, Baron Davis led a squad that also featured Trevor Ariza and promising rookie Stanley Johnson. It felt like they didn’t have their ‘A’ squad as probably the 3 biggest stars of the Drew League — James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, and Nick Young — all did not play. So I would gave Seattle the favorite going in and they ended up winning 135-124.

The exhibition had it’s amazing flair of highlights including Isaiah Thomas blocking Trevor Ariza at the rim, Jamal Crawford hitting a 3rd quarter buzzer beating 3 and putting on a ridiculous handle show on Stanley Johnson, and of course: some Zach LaVine dunks. R.I.P. Darryl Dawkins

This afternoon, reports say that Philadelphia 76er legend Darryl Dawkins, a.k.a. Chocolate Thunder, has passed away. He was only 58 and there was no cause of death cited. (UPDATE: Dawkins family has said it was because of a heart attack.)

The news shakes NBA fans of many generations because Dawkins was one of the game’s most colorful personalities and most powerful dunkers.

Some of my earliest memories becoming a fan of the game actually involved Dawkins. I was too young to ever see him play, but his shattering backboards were always in the highlight videos on VHS I would run back again and again. I also loved that he nicknamed all his dunks and even hailed from “Planet Lovetron”. And by many accounts too, he was a nice and generous man, especially with the youth in his retirement. R.I.P. Chocolate Thunder.

Dawkins named the first backboard-breaking dunk “The Chocolate-Thunder-Flying, Robinzine-Crying, Teeth-Shaking, Glass-Breaking, Rump-Roasting, Bun-Toasting, Wham-Bam, Glass-Breaker-I-Am-Jam.”[3]

He named other dunks as well: the Rim Wrecker, the Go-Rilla, the Look Out Below, the In-Your-Face Disgrace, the Cover Your Head, the Yo-Mama, the Spine-Chiller Supreme, and the Greyhound Special (for the rare occasions when he went coast to coast). The 76ers also kept a separate column on the stat sheet for Dawkins’s self-created nicknames: “Sir Slam”, “Dr. Dunkenstein”, and “Chocolate Thunder.”
