DIASPORA “Wit A Indigo”

You don’t wanna mess wit an indigo like that..

I’m diggin’ Willow Smith’s fresh indigo mindset in all of her new releases the past year or so. The latest comes with the eye-catching visual for “Wit A Indigo”, shot in Venice, and under her DIASPORA collective with Tyler Cole, Crystal Mec, and Tru. She’s got a spunky flow for her rhymes and the male rapper that comes in after her kills it even more. Cool vibe, cool visuals, and cool to see more and more young artists on this intellectual level.

Eminem’s comeback workout routine

#MondayMotivation for sure. And most Mondays you can look no further than Eminem to provide that.

In a new feature with Men’s Journal released this weekend, Eminem revealed the addiction that helped him overcome his addiction. The former is to cardio and working out and the latter is his drugs and alcohol addiction that led him to rehab in 2007.

The entire feature is written in Eminem’s first person account so naturally, it’s a pretty interesting read. On top of that, if you’re a workout freak, you’ll probably enjoy the image of Eminem doing things like the Insanity workout at home by himself. Hey, he’s just like us!

Here’s an excerpt:

Recovery = Running
In 2007, I overdosed on pills, and I went into the hospital. I was close to 230 pounds. I’m not sure how I got so big, but I have ideas. The coating on the Vicodin and the Valium I’d been taking for years leaves a hole in your stomach, so to avoid a stomachache, I was constantly eating — and eating badly.

When I got out of rehab, I needed to lose weight, but I also needed to figure out a way to function sober. Unless I was blitzed out of my mind, I had trouble sleeping. So I started running. It gave me a natural endorphin high, but it also helped me sleep, so it was perfect. It’s easy to understand how people replace addiction with exercise. One addiction for another but one that’s good for them. I got an addict’s brain, and when it came to running, I think I got a little carried away. I became a fucking hamster. Seventeen miles a day on a treadmill. I would get up in the morning, and before I went to the studio, I would run eight and a half miles in about an hour. Then I’d come home and run another eight and a half. I started getting OCD about the calories, making sure I burned 2,000 every day. In the end I got down to about 149 pounds. I ran to the point where I started to get injured. All the constant pounding from the running began to tear up my hip flexors.

Big Sean ‘Focus’ (Vlog)

You are what you focus on.

True words, amongst many true words, in the latest vlog from Big Sean titled Focus.

This one’s another level of inspiring (not to discount is other inspiring vlogs) as Big Sean narrates the video, speaking on manifesting your goals, staying focused, realizing when you’re not doing something that makes you feel good or happy, and resetting your focus if you feel like it’s off. His example of wanting a new car is perfect and overall, this is right in line with many a talks I’ve had with Gowhere co-founder Maks G that’s also embodied in Indigo Minute.

Me personally? I really resonate with everything Sean describes here so watch it and you’ll immediately be swept up in focusing on this approach (no pun intended.) And hey, cameos from Kanye, Diddy, Jhene Aiko, and Chris Brown will likely keep your attention too. Shouts to Sean for delivering yet again with this new vlog.

Mike Posner “Be As You Are”

Mike Posner’s comeback is already a successful one as his new Truth EP features him at his most personal and vulnerable with a stripped down acoustic sound to perfectly match.

One of the standouts is “Be As You Are”, which inspires you to be yourself and rise through your struggles. Mike reflects on times he cried to his mother in the track. In the video, he takes things another level.

Posner and a diverse cast rip apart the stigmas society places on them “bum”, fat”, “whore”, “thug”, etc. and they powerfully rip off their own clothes (NSFW) and frolic into the ocean water. In fact, one by one this stirs up a pretty moving image and drives home the message of the song… to well, “Be As You Are”. Awesome video, Mike. It’s already inspiring.
