Asher Roth “Tangerine Girl”

Asher Roth his back with some new music — his first single to be exact. Here’s the smooth and mellow “Tangerine Girl”, the 1st single to the upcoming album, ‘RetroHash’, dropping 04.22.

Oddly enough, Asher doesn’t start rapping til the 2:40 mark, but rides to the beat well. Definitely a differently structured single and a feel-good one at that. This one will make the part of the rotation with Pharrell’s album; it’s along that vibe. Love the simple gradient cover art too.

Ro James “Lisa” f/ Asher Roth

“Lisa” was the song that put Ro James on the map for me last year. The Detroit-born singer linked up with Asher Roth, which reeled me in to listen to the song in the first place, and I came away impressed by both artists on a track that kept growing on me into the fall of 2013. Seriously, I racked up the play counts.

To my pleasant surprise tonight, the video is released (again, joining a day of great new music videos so hover over the Videos tab above) and the two get together for a real slick black and white visual. What makes this stand out visually is the lighting, and lackthereof. There’s a dark mood from the aesthetic and both Ro and Asher slowly sippin’ on a drink. Watch as “Lisa” is as seductive as the track suggests above, directed by AaronIsNotCool.
