C’mon, 40 festival dates to commemorate 20 years and the ATLien duo was not going to also jump in the studio? Here’s hoping the rumor is confirmed, as Queen Latifah of all people, spoke to Howard Stern and said this:
They’re chilling, they’re doing their thing. They’re doing movies and they’re about to work on a new album.
She’s been tied to Dre & Big Boi in the past, and I doubt she’d say this just to say it, so to me: all signs point to a new OutKast album as well. We shall see though.
First, it was the reunion announcement for Coachella. Next, the headlining bill for Governor’s Ball in NYC. Now, OutKast has officially announced that they’ll be performing at 40 festivals in the spring/summer of 2014 around the world to commemorate 20 years together as one of hip hop’s most influential and creative duos ever.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the full dates. I’m sensing… Lollapalooza 2014 for Chicago?
Says Big Boi:
It’s truly an honor to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose. Don’t just think outside the box, know that there is no box. I’m looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans – stank you smelly much, this is for y’all!
Says Andre 3000:
And imagine, all we wanted to do was rap! I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting Outkast.
