In 2014, TDE hopes to lock and load its most ambitious slate of releases: Rashad and the label’s first nonrap signing, New Jersey-based female singer-songwriter SZA, will be coming with albums, as will original team members Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. Meanwhile, Free thinks the long-awaited debut from Black Hippy – the supergroup featuring Lamar, Q, Rock and Ab-Soul – is likely to appear in 2014; Tiffith indicates that TDE is planning to release a new Lamar album this coming September, too.
Above is an excerpt from Billboard’s cover story with Kendrick Lamar & Schoolboy Q. While I certainly expect a K. Dot album sometime this year (2 years after his debut), the pessimistic side of me is saying that the label’s ambitious goals may fall the way of delay. C’mon guys, we’ve all seen it before. But more power to TDE if they pull it off — including that Black Hippy album. They’re right on track with Oxymoron this past Tuesday.
Looks like Beyoncé has decided that the sexy, bass thumping “Partition” will be the next single from BEYONCÉ. This comes as no surprise as “Partition” is most certainly a fan favorite from the album. Hits Daily Double revealed the news and “Partition” will go to radio February 25th.
This is very exciting news as Beyoncé is forcing ‘Urban’ music back on Billboards Hot 100. Speaking of Billboards Hot 100, “Drunk In Love” has moved back into the top 5. Could “Drunk In Love” be Beyoncé’s next number one since “Single Ladies”? Maybe, but in any case it’s amazing to see how great her album is performing! This week BEYONCÉ sold 50,132 copies bring its total to 1,620,000. Looks like someone is heading for double platinum status in a few more weeks.
Meanwhile check out how “Partition” came together below.
Another magazine cover for Beyonce & Jay Z as their performance stills actually remind me of “Crazy In Love” on the new Billboard above. It’s for the annual Power 100 list, which you can view here, on top of the issue’s cover story.
