Chance, Mike Will, & Skrillex in the studio

Via Mike Will’s IG, we have what’s certainly going to be a unique clash of sounds and styles: Chance, Mike Will, and Skrillex. Hmm… whatever the output, I sense it’ll sound different than anything Chance has put out to date. This is an album-worthy collab too, if I say so myself…

…In other Chance news, the Wireless Festival lineup was announced today and wow, does it have a ton of big names. Chance is amongst them as you are correctly assuming. No need to list the rest, just wander your eyes below…

Peter Cottontale “Suitcase RMX” f/ Chance & Vic Mensa

No surprise to see new music from longtime collaborators Peter Cottontale, Chance The Rapper, and Vic Mensa. These Chicagoans collide for Cottontale’s remix to “Suitcase” as Chance kicks it off and Vic ends the 2.5 minute track. I wasn’t vibing that much with Chance’s talking verse to be honest, but it definitely fit the record. I moreso liked Vic Mensa wondering aloud with more captivating questions as he continued rapping. Listen and enjoy!

Kami De Chukwu x Joey Purp “Still Alive”

Directed by Verluxe. Produced by Stix & Thelonious Martin

A lot went into making this video come to life and the final result seems to make it look like it was all worth it. Kami De Chukwu and Joey Purp or by their group name Leather Corduroys of the Savemoney militia finally drop the video for “Still Alive”, which they originally planned to release in 2013. The video also features appearances from Vic Mensa, Chance The Rapper, Tokyo Shawn, Caleb James, Dally Auston, Brian Fresco and producers Thelonius Martin and Stix.

Look out for much more music from this collective including a Leather Corduroys LP slated for release this year, Tokyo Shawn’s Wave Theory and a new Donnie Trumpet project.

Lupe & Chance in the studio?

Not only via Chance on Twitter just moments ago, but also Lupe’s Instagram, we see two of Chicago’s biggest artists chillin’ side by side. Naturally, we’re all thinking collab anyway, but to add some substance: Lupe has instagrammed pictures of just himself with captions like “Day 2 of the Final TETSUO Sessions… #TY”. Lu’s said in recent interviews that he’s finishing up the album for right after the top of the new year so me thinks it’s got a new feature in the emerging Chicago emcee Chano. Time will tell, but this collab will sure be fun to think about because I think their styles will contrast well and ultimately be a nice display of lyricism.
