DMX cameos in Top Five

Here’s a surprise, but maybe not really a big one the more you think about it. After all, Chris Rock is heavily connected in the rap world and he and DMX both hail from NYC.

Watch above to see a humorous, surprise cameo in Top Five and maybe you’ll want to go see it this holiday season.

BONUS: I listened to this Chris Rock podcast with Bill Simmons today and he talks about the movie, times with SNL, and some hoops. Very fun, interesting listen.

Chris Rock & Questlove on Juan Epstein

Have a couple hours on your hand this Thanksgiving?

I suggest you carve out some time (no pun intended) to let this run in the background: Chris Rock and Questlove talk with Peter Rosenberg & Cipha Sounds on the Juan Epstein podcast, recalling some awesome stories and having a genuinely good time throughout.

Among them: Questlove begins the video portion above by recalling how he found out about Biggie’s death. It’s a fascinating tale that brings us back to how Biggie and The Roots weren’t all the way right before the untimely passing.

Also: Chris Rock calls Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy the best album of the past 50 years. Damn. Strong words, but said without doubt by Rock. He also describes some in-studio experiences of the album like when he himself recorded his part for “Blame Game”. The full pod is below — a shorter 20 minute clip is above (extracted from the 18 minute mark in the full 2 hours.) Great stuff from Juan Epstein.

Prince on SNL

Prince on SNL put it down as the legendary singer provided a rare TV appearance and did something SNL hasn’t really seen: an 8-minute performance. Prince jammed out with 4 songs on the heels of his double album release and left a mark on longtime and new, young fans alike. Watch above, ICYMI.

SNL was star-studded last night as well with host Chris Rock making his first appearance on the show since his firing in 1993. Here, in classic Chris Rock fashion, is his controversial opening monologue in which he mentions the Boston Marathon bombing and 9/11.

And start it all off with how the show did: host Chris Rock‘s hilarious opening monologue as he takes fun jabs at Solange & Jay Z, Oprah, Rick Ross, Kevin Hart, and Donald Sterling.

Plus, some fun GIFs, MEMEs, and the like below too!
