Lillard vs. Westbrook Duel

Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook each went for 40 tonite but it was Lillard who sent the game into overtime with the same play as last year. Seriously. Watch the highlight, then the split-screen below.

The Blazers got the win in OT 115-111. Full highlights of the duel up above…

Damian Lillard career-high vs. Spurs

In the association tonite, Damian Lillard notched a career-high 43 points in the 2nd 3rd Overtime thriller in San Antonio in as many games. Lillard was reason #1 why the Spurs got the loss again as he hit every clutch shot to tie the game, and even block a potential game-winner. The step-back was on point and a thrill to watch (these last 2 shots man…)

The full highlights above do the performance justice. Note that Lillard pours in 26 of the 43 points in only 22 minutes.

If you’re pressed for time, here’s a Damian Lillard dunk that inspired a fantastic reaction from Hubie Brown:

If you’re not pressed for time, also proceed to some highlights of our hometown team getting a road win against the Memphis Grizzlies, without D. Rose or Taj Gibson, and on the second night of a back to back.

Jimmy Butler led all scorers with 31 points (his 2nd 30+ point game in a row) and rookie Nikola Mirotic added a career-high 27 points going 6-6 from beyond the arc. The future is bright, Chicago!

Damian Lillard on Conan

Last night, Damian Lillard was part of an awesome lineup on Conan (also featuring Neil Patrick Harris and Kiesza, scroll below…) to promote his cover on NBA Live 15. That was a mere footnote in the interview though as Lillard first talked about his clutch series ender vs. the Rockets and why he didn’t celebrate right after (above) and then got a few minutes in about his popular 4-Bar Friday Instagram rap competition. He put his money where his mouth is and, a rapper since age 14 himself, Lillard put down a nice 4 bars (after rejecting Conan’s beat, ha!) The ending was tight. And hey it’s Friday so pop on over to the @4BarFriday IG account and see what’s going on. 4.

Oh, and Lillard may or may not have Shmoney Danced his way over to the interview desk.

Team USA in animated GIFs

Use the arrows to switch players — 5 in all.

ESPN’s done it again with the animation. First, it was Richard Swarbrick with the original animations documenting big NBA Playoff moments — and now it’s South African studio MadeByRadio at the helm for these creative, animated GIFs above. ESPN highlighted 3 of Team USA’s starters and a couple of all-stars that didn’t make it as part of this fun scroll-thru in advance of Team USA’s first official game in group play this Saturday. I love all of these, so my only disappointment came when it stopped at 5 without a D. Rose GIF. That said, I’m betting more will be created as the U.S. has their own big moments starting in a couple of days (then we’ll get one with Rose running so fast out of frame that a repeating GIF won’t be able to contain him.)
