One more preview off ‘B4.Da.$$’ and it’s one of the bigger name collabs as Action Bronson & Elle Varner feature and Statik Selektah produces. Elle Varner kills the hook and everyone’s sound and style meshes pretty well. Very solid, with the album dropping on January 20th.
Here’s Elle Varner’s storytelling visual for a single earlier this year called “Cold Case”. No facetime for Elle but I did spot some badminton equipment (little known fact: I’m excellent at badminton.) That caught me off guard but these are some clean, black and white visuals and I think the casual viewer should pick up on the story pretty quick.
Here’s a great music video. Elle Varner’s emotional “Fuck It All” video is meant for anyone trying to let go of something — be it professional or personal as it more directly applies for Elle. Watch the story with her boyfriend play out for a shocking ending. (I’ll shut up now, just watch.)
Hometown readers, Elle Varner is at The Shrine for 2 straight nights this weekend.
When you’re counting the hours at your job, making a change in your life big or small, or are simply ready to throw up your hands and accept what is happening at that moment, maybe there is something you need to let go of. I certainly did so myself.
You may have noticed the site has been stagnant for the last couple of days. We were in the midst of some site updates and couldn’t update you on the latest and greatest during the start of this second week of September. Never fear, here’s your rundown of just Monday’s new content below (Tuesday is linked below too.)
My favorite segment of the 3 — Gambino rocks a smooth freestyle over HS87’s buzzing summer single and confirms that Chance collab EP in the process. Jhene Aiko talks about Gambino himself amongst other topics including her debut album, Souled Out, (out now!). And finally, Raury does something different after a nearly 20 minute sit down with Hot 97 — an acoustic cover of Kanye’s “Blood on the Leaves”, in which he also adds a new verse of his own. Fresh. And it would only sound better in the studio, methinks.

**Note: I would also include the new Kanye West verse on the 1:30 preview of Theophilus London “Can’t Stop”, but the audio has been removed. You’ll hear it soon enough though — ‘Ye is exec. producing Theophilus London’s upcoming album, Vibes.

“I know it’s crazy, to think of this daily/ Imagine no one needing guns, only once, impossible, maybe/ but we’ve never tried it, the whole world is silent, respecting each other, our gods, and our brothers, kill them with kindness”
– Elle Varner
Akin to J. Cole’s well-received “Be Free” earlier today, Elle Varner releases a touching new song as tribute and positive thinking with the Ferguson, Missouri situation at large. I’m vibing with “One Love” and how Ms. Varner delivers the message. Everything about this is on point so listen below.
