Lil Wayne took over ESPN today, taking a small break from the Drake vs. Lil Wayne Tour to talk some sports… and OH, also freestyle over the SportsCenter theme. A true freestyle too — not long, only about 30 seconds, but pretty fresh given the context. Weezy raps about his attire, name-drops the teams he’s rooting for, and ends it all with a fresh, timely punchline. I’ll let it surprise you as it did me.
Wayne also joined Skip, Stephen A., and Cari Champion for a debate on First Take. This is always fun when they bring rappers (or Kevin Hart) on set to talk about the NBA and NFL. In the first video, Wayne makes some bold claims like calling Mario Chalmers “a beast” and Aaron Rodgers the best quarterback in the NFL. The talk continues about the Lakers and Drake & the Raptors in part 2. Enjoyable viewings for any sports fan who may have missed it this morning.

Pre-Game 4, 50 Cent & Trey Songz joined the ESPN First Take debate desk with Cari Champion and of course, Skip & Stephen A. Naturally, the main topic at hand was the NBA Finals with both Fif and Trey weighing in on the Spurs-Heat series (50 also talked a lil boxing). This is great to watch after the fact as Game 4 obviously resulted in a Spurs route and makes Stephen A. look a little bad here. Looks like Trey’s Spurs in 6 prediction is going to be off… Spurs in 5?!
Also fun to re-watch after the fact (for a different reason): Yoenis Cespedes’ 300+ ft. throw from the other night. Still wow.
Lil Wayne was among the bevy of guests on ESPN’s First Take today — talking NBA as All-Star Weekend starts in his hometown of New Orleans. I caught it this morning and actually found myself agreeing with Wayne’s logic about what teams he’s taking for the rest of the year. He knows his bball and this was an entertaining segment.
