Team USA in animated GIFs

Use the arrows to switch players — 5 in all.

ESPN’s done it again with the animation. First, it was Richard Swarbrick with the original animations documenting big NBA Playoff moments — and now it’s South African studio MadeByRadio at the helm for these creative, animated GIFs above. ESPN highlighted 3 of Team USA’s starters and a couple of all-stars that didn’t make it as part of this fun scroll-thru in advance of Team USA’s first official game in group play this Saturday. I love all of these, so my only disappointment came when it stopped at 5 without a D. Rose GIF. That said, I’m betting more will be created as the U.S. has their own big moments starting in a couple of days (then we’ll get one with Rose running so fast out of frame that a repeating GIF won’t be able to contain him.)

Today in NBA Commercials

A couple of new NBA commercials were released online this morning and it was a great way to ease into my morning, so I figured it may do just the same for you.

The first I saw is adidas Basketball continues their #Boost campaign with flagship athlete Damian Lillard interviewed by Rachel Nichols in “a fictional and humorous look at what life for the 2014 NBA All-Star would be like without Boost in his basketball shoes.”

Then I see that Foot Locker is understanding that if you put Charles Barkley in a commercial, that’s half the battle. Here he has some funny dialogue with James Harden, but it’s Scottie Pippen who steals the show. Both spots are pretty humorous so enjoy!

Kevin Durant loses $20K bet to Game

Leave it to Instagram to kickstart the NBA offseason, right?

Two fun goodies here as first, over the weekend, KD bet Game he couldn’t make an NBA 3… for $20,000 dollars! Game, who if you don’t know actually does have game, sank the shot for the $$$ (that’s going to be donated to a youth basketball team in southern Cali), but also… KD has to play for Game’s Drew League team this summer. Hah! Among those in the peanut gallery: Drake, James Harden, and DeMar DeRozan.

In other NBA Instagram fun, Chris Paul posterized Kevin Hart yesterday, as captured by Kyrie Irving. Oh summer fun.

NBA Signature Shoes fused with Rap Albums

Bball and rap come together yet again in the form of these original illustrations by designer Patso Dimitrov. He re-imagined your favorite superstar’s signature shoe with a colorway that matches the scheme of your favorite rap album, past or present.

As you’ll see in the gallery above, you get some natural fusions like LeBron with Kanye & Jay‘s Watch The Throne, D. Rose with Chance‘s Acid Rap, and Blake Griffin taking flight in some NWTS J’s.

My two favorites — well, one, how can you knock the Chicago D. Rose 4.5 ‘Acid’? The purples of the Acid Rap cover instantly yield towards a fresh, unique shoe colorway. The other top tier fave is KD‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail shoe, purely because of the cross out on the ‘KD’. Slick move, Patso. Tweet him your favorite.
