LION BABE “Impossible”

The NYC duo returns with yet another fresh visual as “Impossible” is defined by a black/white/gold color palette that makes for a clean, striking look throughout. Jillian Hervey artistically glows beauty once again, especially in these GIF-worthy moments of spreading gold glitter. Lucas Goodman plays his part as the badass drummer/percussionist well too. And as for the song, Jillian’s fast delivery of the “You can break it down to shake me…” hook is fast addicting. Enjoy the audio/visual experience above.

LION BABE cover Amy Winehouse LIVE

The eclectic NYC duo Lion Babe continues to make waves beyond their hometown, most recently here in Chicago where their cover of Curtis Mayfield’s “Move On Up” was the NFL Draft theme song and now in London where they hit the BBC 1 Live Lounge for a couple great performance sessions.

The first is a cover of the late Amy Winehouse’s “Love Is A Losing Game” and that proved to be a seamless fit. Without further ado…

The duo also performed their current single “Wonder Woman” in the live session. Proceed below for that must-see too.

ICYMI: LION BABE “Move On Up (Curtis Mayfield Cover)” for NFL Draft

Lion Babe to cover Curtis Mayfield for NFL Draft

UPDATE 05.06.15: The cover is released and can be heard here.

With the NFL Draft just a couple weeks away, it has already drawn some local buzz for Chicagoans not because we may or may not take a quarterback (hope so, please) but because the Draft itself will be in Chicago this year for the first time in over 50.

Adding to the flavor is this great hip hop/soul crossover as ESPN announced that emerging duo LION BABE will be providing the Draft’s theme song. And not only that, they’ll be covering Chicago legend Curtis Mayfield’s “Move On Up”.

Browse the gallery above for some BTS photos of the video shoot that will showcase Lucas and Jillian throughout many Chicago landmarks, including the beautiful Lincoln Park Boardwalk designed by Studio Gang (who this week revealed renderings for the 3rd tallest building in Chicago, btw).

“Chicago has such a great music tradition and since the draft is here for the first time, we really wanted to use the song of a legendary artist from this city,” said Kevin Wilson, ESPN Music director. “Curtis was a perfect fit and his ‘Move on Up’ has such an iconic sound and the idea of ‘moving on up’ fits this event in so many ways as these players go from college to the NFL, and then ‘moving on up’ in rounds and picks.”

Needless to say, lookin’ forward to the Draft and lookin’ forward to LION BABE’s next big look and cover that I think will be a great fit for their fresh style.

LION BABE “Treat Me Like Fire”

Clean, simple greyscale visuals from the fresh NYC duo, LION BABE, for one of my favorite tracks from their debut EP, “Treat Me Like Fire”. I can’t put my finger on it, but the constant melody reminds me of an old Childish Gambino song or “US Placers”. It’s got that vibe at least, via producer Lucas Goldman.

Singer Jillian Hervey shows off her lioness hair in taking center stage for the visuals up above and flat out, her whole style is on point. Enjoy up above, and watch all the way through for the slight twist in presentation…
