Mickey Factz “Detroit Red”

In one of the cooler concepts to a music video I’ve seen lately, Mickey Factz stars as Malcolm X — transforming himself into the role in depicting Malcolm’s days as a Harlem street hustler.

It’s inspired by Spike Lee‘s joint with Denzel Washington in the lead role so you know Mickey went all out in creating that vibe. Everything from the attire, scenes in an old school barbershop and the streets, and Mickey even dying his hair red.

The song and now visual combine for an informative and modern illustration of Malcolm’s story that the younger generations can connect with even more. I for one appreciate the experience as Mickey kills it on the mic and in the video (that last verse too…). Nadia Tayeh directs in this must-see video off this summer’s 740 Park Avenue.
