Drake “Energy” (Music Video)

UPDATE: A month-plus later, “Energy” is up on VEVO for all you non-Apple Music subscribers.

07.10.15: If you’ve followed Drake on the ‘gram you know that today was that “Energy” video drop date, only on Apple Music.

Accompanying the video though, Drake chopped it up with Zane Lowe (UPDATE: Rip of the interview below.) and announced the OVO Sound Radio Show, which will definitely play exclusives from time to time…

Tonight at 3PM PST / 6PM EST

OVO x Mitchell & Ness x Raptors Collection

Late last year, Drake announced an upcoming OVO x Raptors collection with Mitchell & Ness and today we get a look at the lookbook before it all goes on sale tomorrow (Friday) morning.

I’m a fan of the old school dino logo and it even being taken a step further with some of the old school type (like the Raptors Basketball practice tee, probably my favorite of the collection.) Everything is donned in the classic OVO gold color and if I was a Toronto Raptors fan I would be quick to snatch this up asap. It just makes me wish Kanye would do something like this with the Bulls.

The collection is coming just in time for the playoffs but the Raptors aren’t looking too hot like last season. Especially after last night’s loss to our hometown Bulls. This kind of sums it up.

The Noah/Dunleavy high five is fantastic.

Drake ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’

Some updates in the fallout of last night’s surprise release:

For one, Tyga responded to Drake’s (excellent) diss on “6PM in New York” with some since deleted tweets.

Moving on, Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late is projected for a whopping 500K sold after last night’s stellar drop. Whow! Surprise releases FTW. You think Birdman got the message? Free agent Drizzy comin’ up…? We shall see…

First impressions: 2, 3, 4, 9, 12, 14, 15, 17 all inspired run backs immediately. That’s a higher than average percentage people. Looking forward to digesting this more as a whole this weekend for some further thoughts.

Cool story bro: I lit up at the sample of Henry Krinkle’s “Stay” because that’s a great tune to begin with but because Mickey Factz’ “Stay” has been a rotation mainstay (no pun intended) since December. PND and Drake is way different and I like it a lot, but I gotta go with Mickey’s use of the sample more. Speaks to the latter.

02.12.15: It’s great when rumors come true. That was the case today as Drake does indeed drop a surprise new mixtape, not album, on iTunes (it costs money though.) Back with more commentary and an update, but all you need is below.

Drake “Jungle” (Short Film)

New Drake! Kinda, sorta…

It’s in the form of a cinematic 14 minute short film cryptically titled “Jungle”, directed by Karim Huu Do. I applaud the non-traditional rollout that Drake is capable of producing given his star power and well-known acting experience. I’ll have to sit with this myself, but in scanning through it, we do get an early listen at a couple of new songs. Get the popcorn ready and watch above.

ICYMI: The Drake ‘2 Far Gone’ rumor

OB OBrien f/ Drake & P.Reign “Schemin Up”

NEW OVO in the wee hours of Sunday morning as OB OBrien gets the look with Drake and P.Reign contributing on “Schemin Up”.

It’s officially new Drake but it’s not quite new for the keen Gowhere visitor this week as his verse is actually heard on the Rich Homie Quan leak. This is the intended home for that verse as Drake also provides later vocals in the hook and transitions.

Produced by Boi-1da & 40, with Matthew Burnett. Not one of my favorite beats from them but it’s a catchy one for the casual listener. Tune in here:
