OVO Fest Recap: Drake roasts Meek Mill, brings out Kanye, Pharrell, Skepta, Future

Live updates comin’ in from Toronto as the expected star-studded OVO Fest affair is going off without a hitch… and going on with a bevy of guest stars.

Widely expected surprise/not so surprise guests Kanye West, Skepta, and Future all appeared. (UPDATE: Pharrell too. Didn’t expect that one!) The former sounds like he had his own concert within Drake’s concert, in fact. And to top it off, Drake roasted Meek Mill with a slideshow of MEMEs. (I led it off above with my favorite, and I’m sure there’s more.) The tweets/clips below, to be updated throughout the night. At posting time, Kanye’s set is still going on. Wow. (UPDATES on the top now as the fest closed with “Know Yourself” and apparently “Back To back” again.)

Pharrell x Zaha Hadid adidas Supershell

I couldn’t let the day get away without spotlighting the announcement of Pharrell x adidas Supershell. He links up with 4 artists to collaborate on a new, limited release on August 7th. These designs are already fresh and that’s even before you dive into the collaborating artist and Pharrell’s reasons for inspiration.

I’m particularly highlighting Zaha Hadid, given my architecture degree and the fact that she’s one of my favorite architects. The shelltoe is amazing and the yellow accents are subtle and on point too. In the video, there’s some flower print to the shelltoes and that certainly works too. 06.30.15: Apple Music has launched and, as expected, Pharrell accompanied it with a new, potential hit single.

“Freedom” has some substance to it, especially when you peep the powerful visuals to it on Apple Music today. I love the piano melody throughout and so video aside, I’ll be adding this to ‘My Music’.
