Eminem & Stephen Colbert on Public Access

For real. On Monroe, Michigan public access. Now for the interwebs.

This combo is as great as advertised, and photographed above. The show goes on for 41 minutes so tune in to see some dry humor as the two go back and forth about almost anything, including vague facts about Michigan. Great stuff.

(Be sure to also fire up Apple Music today for Eminem’s big chat with Zane Lowe… overshadowed by this viral video.)

Kendrick Lamar debuts new song on Colbert Report

New Kendrick Lamar — a world premiere of an untitled song as Colbert’s final musical guest.

If that wasn’t cool enough, Colbert put on the pressure by deadpanly asserting that previous musical guests Paul McCartney, R.E.M., and Nas were his opening acts. That’s a high standard to follow, but Kendrick did just that with the help of Thundercat, Terrace Martin, and Bilal.

The song expertly fuses the genres that the latter two artists come from; there’s elements of jazzy R&B flavor for a production that oscillates and is never totally the same. Then there’s Kendrick’s part. Some spoken word and some high-paced rhyming with the substance and lyricism that impresses on an easy first-listen. I had to rewind this back, and back again. It comes at a perfect time with what’s going on in the world today.

Can’t wait for the studio version for this TBD titled track to drop. The performance starts at 4:15 after a humorous interview with Colbert below.
