Wu-Tang Clan “Necklace”

Cappadonna, Raekwon, Ghostface, and GZA lace the new cut “Necklace” off A Better Tomorrow, still slated for a December 2nd release. A true head nodder as the grimy delivery matches a complimenting production I’m imagining blares through a dark rap basement setting.

Wu-Tang Clan “Ruckus in B Minor”

NEW Wu! That alone incites an instant play and “Ruckus In B Minor” doesn’t disappoint. Produced by RZA & Rick Rubin, the beat sets the tone as I especially love the change-up when GZA transitions to RZA’s interlude. Probably my favorite part of a song that comes all the way correct. OH, and we are treated to a special intro from the late ODB. Press play and peruse the tracklist below.

ICYMI: The ‘A Better Tomorrow’ GIF Cover

Wu-Tang ‘A Better Tomorrow’ (Artwork)

I’m all for GIF covers and that’s just what Wu-Tang did for their upcoming album, A Better Tomorrow, dropping for sure through Warner Bros. Records on December 2nd. Lookin’ forward to the music of course, but presentation wise, this is a great first step. I mean, look at the architecture they fit into one, realistic-looking mega-city. #CHI’s in there too *nods head*

GIF covers always bring back fond memories of our first ever Gowhere Tape back in 2010. I was able to find it on Ant’s old site, ha! #Classic

Ohhh snap! Found it.

RZA freestyles in an interview

Now this is pretty cool. I was always secretly hoping in our interviews over the years that an artist would answer a question with a rap melody and make it a freestyle. It definitely hasn’t come close to how it happened for MTV above as RZA was telling a story about Inspectah Deck when asked about rap battles amongst the Clan, and then proceeded to freestyle. Man, you have to rewind this to truly understand the lyrical depth. Needless to say — a super fun watch above.

Slick move, RZA.

Wu-Tang explains why the Drake remix never happened

Oh yeah, why didn’t that “Wu-Tang Forever (Remix)” ever happen? Drake was supposed to have Wu-Tang as the natural fit and there were even confirmations of verses done for the song… perhaps even a video shot in Toronto. Yet, we haven’t heard it and from the sounds of it, looks like we never will. I should preface this by saying that there is no bad blood between Drake & Wu-Tang as indicated in the full MTV interview above. But here’s why:

“I guess we kind of came too hard for him. He wanted us to talk about broads, but at that time, we wasn’t in a broad mode. We had to write it real fast. No lie, I probably had about six hours to write this thing. At the time, I wasn’t feeling woman-y—I was feeling hard as nails. So, I wrote him a hard as nail rhyme, and he was talking about something totally different, so the subject matter didn’t really mesh.”
– U-God to MTV

Adds Ghostface:

I like Drake, though. I like him because he’s pays homage. But at the end of the day, he knows how to rhyme. He’s not weak.

Dah well. It still would’ve been dope, but at the same time, you can’t force things. Artistic integrity won out and that’s fine by me. Given that there’s no beef or anything, perhaps they’ll collab on somethin’ fresh when the time’s right…

Chime in with your thoughts on who Drake should collab with next.
