Whoo, it’s been a great August for new basketball shoes so leave it to Nike to put the exclaimation mark on a nice month overall.
Tomorrow (the 27th) we’ll see the release of the latest Kobe X colorway “Overcome” seen in the gallery above. This is one of my favorite colorways of the signature with the grape purple, teal, and black all clashing beautifully. I also gotta cop that tee up above too.
Here’s the always motivating explanation of the namesake, via Nike:
He didn’t need to head to the line as trainers pleaded with him to head for the locker room, but he came back. He didn’t need to rehab harder than any human should have for the ‘15 season, but he came back. He didn’t need to keep training after he tore his shoulder, but he’ll come back … because one thing Kobe knows is how to overcome.
To top it off, Nike Basketball also released today the Kyrie 1 “Australia” colorway. Kyrie’s first signature gets the beautiful greens of the Australia logo and it’s by far his best colorway to date. I’m a fan of Uncle Drew, but I can’t in good conscience buy a pair of Kyries when he’s gonna go up against my Bulls again this season. Especially on a day when the Rose’s come out and look nice too. But hey, for all you Cavs and/or Aussie fans, scroll below and cop the collection.
On the heels of adidas’ biggest off-season acquisition (James Harden at $200 million), they release official images and release dates for Derrick Rose’s 6th signature shoe — the adidas #DRose6.
As you can see above, the Bulls colors take to the forefront for the away version with the home mixing white and silver. I dig the look of these much more than last year’s 5’s and it’s especially cool to see them in context of the city or Derrick’s own foot in the Instagrams below. The up close detail shots are key too and it looks like a shoe to hold in person and really get a feel for it.
The Home drops October 15th and the Away drops November 5th. Creators never stop. *nods head*
Gorgeous, clean, official images from adidas Originals today who make that August 22nd release date 100% official too.
Join me in trying futily for these next Saturday! (My favorite versions of Yeezy Boosts yet, so I may actually go above and beyond to pull some strings for this one.)
UPDATE: Beyonce went #FBF on us from her last Vogue cover. Looks amazing and pristine here too.
Go Bey! She becomes the first black artist to cover the prestigious September issue. Enjoy the wet and seductive spread above and check out the creative digital cover story on Vogue’s site here.
At yesterday’s USA mini-camp practice, Steph Curry turned heads of sneakerheads by debuting his second signature shoe with UnderArmour — the Curry Two.
Replacing the bubbles of the anafoam are what looks like ventilation holes. In general, the shape and silhouette of the shoe doesn’t change too differently… and I’m cool with that. It looks nice already. I’m eager to see more official photos and learn what technology additions they’re implementing for the second sig, sure to come by the start of the NBA season.
UPDATE: The NBA just posted the Curry Two’s from practice today and you should notice the term “Speedfoam” at the base of the laces. Looking forward to finding what that’s all about…
This, today, on the release of the new Curry One black/gold colorway — perhaps the best one yet.
