CRYSTALLINE: Brazil’s Crystal Giants [LA Exhibit Opening]

Rhythm Visuals in collaboration with Bookbinder LLC present a rare opportunity to experience some of the world’s largest, finest crystals, ethically extracted from Brazil.

On display is an astounding collection of earth-art objects that might normally only be seen in photographs. Come be energized, mesmerized, and amazed by:

● The world’s largest and finest natural citrine sphere
● A 1,600 lb tub created from a single agate crystal
● A giant amethyst crystal geode throne
● A phallus-shaped amethyst geode sculpture
● Crystal quartz thrones: King, Queen, and Princess set
● A spinning double-terminated crystal quartz chair
● Lemurian quartz clusters over 1,600 lbs
● Various smaller, fine quartz points, clusters, hearts and spheres

The exhibit debuts Saturday, July 13th, from 12 to 9pm at Rhythm Visuals Gallery 1040 S. Olive St, Los Angeles, CA 90015. The opening show will feature music, hors d’oeuvres, and interactive sensory experiences. After the opening, the exhibit will be on display to the public Tuesday — Saturday from 11am to 5pm. The exhibit will then close with an event on Sunday, July 27th from 12 to 6pm.

Jean Watts Is Back With Two New Singles “Feel The Same” and “Evicted”!

Jean Watts is back with pink hair and a new sound that gives you all the feels. “Feel The Same” & “Evicted” have a similar vibe, and progress from one to the other like two chapters in a story. The first single “Feel The Same” is like that part of a relationship where things are stuck, and you know that something major has to change. Then “Evicted” is the reality of that change where you’re left with yourself, feeling the empty space that was once something positive.

The “Feel The Same” music video above really adds visually to the overall message of breaking free from the stuck, unnatural, and limiting patterns that keep us down. The old car is like a metaphor for what’s really old and not working in our lives. There comes a point where we literally have to bust through the windows, and throw a Molotov cocktail to burn it all to the ground.. because we’re done feeling the same stuck energy over and over again. It’s an empowering and numbing feeling at the same time.

“Evicted” feels a bit more sad, because it’s the aftermath from setting fire to the old, and then reminiscing of all the good memories it had. I like this holographic-esque video for its clean simplicity. It really illustrates that glitchy transformation period that happens in solitude after we’ve been evicted from something that we once loved. “Evicted” is a space of re-definition that begins a new chapter for us to evolve into something greater.

Both singles have great production by @infbuckets “Feel The Same” and @Macgregorleo “Evicted”, which give Jean a melancholic yet empowered backdrop to her full and soulful melodies. I’m happy to hear Jean’s sound evolve and mature over the years, and am looking forward to the next chapter of this story. Stay tuned @JeanWatts!

Empathy Test’s first 2019 release is an instant add

I can’t believe it’s been 5 years now since I discovered U.K. synthpop duo Empathy Test when they provided sounds for ESPN’s 2014 NBA Finals social media coverage. See below:

I guess not much has changed in 5 years. Kawhi Leonard was getting buckets on the way to being Finals MVP in 2014 and tonight, Kawhi is doing the same in leading his new team within one win from the 2019 NBA Finals.

Similarly, Empathy Test is getting replays of their new songs, 5 years apart. Let’s just hope Kawhi doesn’t leave Toronto “Empty Handed”. Har. Har. Har. (I’ll stop here before I become the Cardi B news anchor, smh.)

Seriously though, this new one, their first drop of 2019, is on some soundtrack ‘ish. The consistent, fast-paced synths feels like this could be in Tron and the vivid lyricism feels like it should match up with the movie’s apex scene. I already got this on repeat and look forward to the full 4-track EP drop, which you can pre-order and download come June 20th.

Stan Sono’s new jam is an anthem

Stan Sono’s been previewing his latest release on his socials lately and I really couldn’t wait for this one to drop. Rare in this day of age.

In large part, the production will instantly get stuck in your head. Seriously press play and you’ll see.

Beyond that, Sono’s got some motivating lyrics and is complimented by a dope flow from guest feature Phor on the third verse. Lots to like here and definitely a single that has some replay value as well.

A nostalgic NBA highlight video leads to a fresh 90s funk EP

My daily perusing of old school basketball videos landed me on a brand new, must-follow account. @dunkcomp on IG (or @dunk_comp on Twitter) as they combine old school 90s clips (and sometimes current-day highlights) with 90s funk jams like this one that reeled me in above. It brought me back to when the highlights were so perfectly matched with the music.

Sure enough, it got me to look into the artist — M5K and “Time 2 Jam” is actually part of a 6-track EP that’s a great listen through and through. I couldn’t find much about the artist, except it’s an Australian group, just like the basketball channel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Good music is good music and I got these guys in my car now to remind me of the GOAT decade. 🐐
